The LGBT Community’s Biggest, Best & Longest Running Expo Returns To The Jacob Javits Center In The Big Apple, This Saturday & Sunday

(March 10, 2016 – New York, NY) Returning for its 23rd year, this weekend’s Original LGBT Expo (http://thelgbtexpo.com), the largest and longest-running LGBT convention in the world, features several nationally renowned stage acts, hours of educational seminars and over 300 vendors, all celebrating and showcasing the power of the LGBT community.

The event, which was founded in 1993, has grown from relative obscurity into one of the most well-known and respected conventions in New York City and the world over.

“As you can imagine, the landscape of the LGBT Community has changed dramatically since the LGBT Expo’s inception over two decades ago,” said Jay Handy, Director of Life Out Loud Events, producers of the LGBT Expo. “We’re both amazed and extremely proud of what the event has come to represent and we couldn’t be happier with its continued growth.”

Running from Noon to 6pm Saturday & Sunday, the LGBT Expo features over 100,000 square feet filled with over 300 participating companies and exhibitors, including long-time and first-time sponsors of the event. The list includes amazing companies such as Foresters Financial (http://forestersfinancial.com), Silvercar (http://silvercar.com), MSC Cruises USA (http://msccruises.com), the WNBA’s New York Liberty (http://liberty.wnba.com), Florida Keys and Key West (http://gaykeywestfl.com), Tito’s Handmade Vodka (http://titosvodka.com), Strategies for Wealth (http://strategiesforwealth.com), and hundreds of others.

Exhibitors and sponsors alike will be spread throughout the show floor in various areas, including “pavilions” dedicated to LGBT travel, wedding, family, small business, non-profits and more.

On the show floor attendees are invited to shop and visit hundreds of exhibitors. At the Silvercar Travel Pavilion, you can take a virtual reality tour of a cruise ship with MSC Cruises (VR glasses included), as well as learn about other top vacation destinations around the world while sampling their culture and cuisine.

In the LGBT Expo’s Wedding Pavilion, those ready to take the leap of love can do onsite consultation for original dress designs by Jennyvi Design Couture, and get measured for a bespoke suit with Vandiver Tailors, as well as get all the info necessary to plan that special day, including speaking with officiants, photographers, venues and more. LGBTWeddings.com is onsite as a resource and directory to simplify what can be an overwhelming process.

Another special area of the event is the Non-Profit Pavilion featuring over two-dozen LGBT outreach organizations including American Veterans For Equal Rights, Circle of Voices, Gay Men’s Health Crisis, NYPD, FDNY, National Parks Conservation Society, NYC Department of Health, The Center and The Loft LGBT Community Center.

Last, but not least, the expo’s all-new Family Pavilion has information on steps to take for adoption, surrogacy, as well as additional family services and entertainment for the young ones. There’s even a face painter, so bring the kids along and make it a family outing. Children under the age of 12 are admitted to the convention for free.

The show also features some of the city’s top 40 musical and dance acts on the entertainment stage, hours of engaging seminars and a full schedule of screenings in the LGBT Film Showcase.

The entertainment stage will present top acts from Broadway and beyond. “American Idol” and “Rock of Ages” superstar Constantine Maroulis headlines an incredible roster of talent from the Great White Way as part of the expo’s “Broadway Sings for Pride” partnership. Also taking part with stellar performances are major Broadway stars such as N’Kenge, Lauren Molina, and Kara Lindsay. Comedian Paul Hallasy will also be appearing live on the main entertainment stage, in addition to other features. One major attraction will be the The Original LGBT Expo’s Wedding Runway Show hosted by “Whose Wedding Is It Anyway’s” Donnie Brown.

The Original LGBT Expo will also be featuring hours of engaging, educational and entertaining seminars. Speakers and panels will give attendees information and ideas on a vast array of topics from travel to wedding planning workshops, financial planning to social media and marketing . The FDNY’s first transgender firefighter, Brooke Guinan, will speak on being transgender in the workplace, and celebrity wedding planner Donnie Brown hosts a panel directed to improving your wedding business. Other topics include advice on LGBT relationships, health care, and a cooking demo by celebrity chef Julie Taboulie.
